Poem About Poetry

Poetry is words in a line. Poetry is words that rhyme.

It helps release your hatred. It makes your mind feel naked.

Used to spread a message. Used in every language.

If to fly meant to love, Then poetry is a dove.

I Don’t Know Poem

I don’t know where I’ll end up,

who I’ll see, or what I’ll be.

I don’t know why this happened,

but of course it had to be me.

I need to get through it,

you know? Just be free.

Better hurry before I turn to debris.

Postcard to Poem

Postcard Paragraph:

When I was in the eighth grade, I was playing on the 14U basketball team in my town.  That summer, the 15U team invited me to go to Nationals with them which was being held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  I was super excited to spend the whole week shooting hoops and riding waves with some of my close friends. We drove all the way there from Bloomfield, Connecticut which took 13 hours.  When we weren’t at the gym, the team would go to the beach, chill by the hotel pool, play video games. We were always all together all the time. We got to know a lot about each other and we became more of a family each day.  That trip was one of the most fun basketball experiences I’ve ever been on.

Poem:

Young and dumb with room to grow.

13 hour trip, blessed to go.

Shooting hoops, the net goes splash.

Hit the beach, watch the waves crash.

That week created a brotherhood.

Memories that will last through adulthood.

So much fun, I miss those days.

My brothers continue to amaze.

Basketball

I love to play basketball.

It teaches me great things about life.

Helps your friends up when they’re down.

If you mess up

try again.

I only have one family so

give everything you got to the people

who give everything to you.

I love basketball.

List Poem

Everyday

Everyday I have much to do.

Take a shower, use shampoo.

Dress nice, look brand new.

Eat breakfast, a bagel or two.

Go to class, homework is due.

Time for lunch, eat more food.

Basketball practice, clean blue shoes.

So tired, time to snooze.

Brag Poem

Cereal Chef

I’m the best

at making cereal.

CT Crunch or Lucky Charms

it doesn’t matter.

Pouring from the box,

my technique is unmatched.

Fill the bowl almost to the top.

Now it’s time for milk.

Never too much, never too little.

The perfect breakfast bowl.

I don’t mean to flex,

but I’m the Cereal Chef.

Teamwork

Nothing works like teamwork.

Togetherness makes the dream work.

Then I celebrate with everyone,

celebrate what we’ve done.

It’s fun to shoot a ball in hoops,

But if nobody passes then nobody shoots.

Alone it’s not easy to redeem,

Imagine what I can do with a TEAM.

Epiphany Poem

I Kept Trying

At first, it was difficult.

As I couldn’t work the pedals

and I fell off

a few times.

I scraped both my knees

and my elbow too. But

I kept trying.

Slowly, I made progress.

As the pedals became comfortable

and I didn’t fall off

as many times.

I put on some band-aids

and tightened my helmet, too. And

I kept trying.

At last, I got it.

As the fresh air

breezed through my hair,

how amazing.

I went faster and faster

and with no hands, too. Because

I kept trying.

UNE Gallery Poem

Picture: Along the Waterway

At the top of the world

in my bird’s nest. I can see

for miles and miles.

Sun setting in the distance,

so beautiful. You couldn’t see

a better sight.

A boat in the water

approaching the dock. I wonder if they see

me waving at them.

At the top of the world

in my bird’s nest. I can see

myself being here awhile.
