Learning Outcome 4: Be able to critique their own and others’ work by emphasizing global revision early in the writing process and local revision later in the process.

Introduction: Below is an entry I have written based on the reading “Revision Strategies of Student Writers and Experienced Adult Writers.” This story explains how to review an essay to allow a person to understand there’s a deeper story to their writing that should be shown.

Journal Entry: Based on Nancy Sommers selection on revision, the importance and significance of peer revision is examined and explained. Sommers states how some reviews are just going through a paper and rewording some sentences. This isn’t really that helpful because the sentences are just stating the same exact ideas except in different words. But with a fresh set of eyes, the ‘something larger’ can be better identified by sensing what was wrong and working from there.
